Lest we forget…

While I haven’t posted much reviews lately, I have been hard at work taking new photos and getting new reviews prepped.  In fact, I was in the middle of working on the new MegaHouse Klan Klan review – but I thought I’d take a break from that and write a little about this day.

November 11 is Remembrance Day here in Canada, and it is also observed by many countries around the world – although they may have a different name for this day.  But no matter the name, the purpose is the same – we come together to remember those that have sacrificed just about everything for the rest of us.

This day is the anniversary of the Armistice, the end of World War I back in 1918.  Although I can’t say I know any of my family members fighting in either of the Great Wars, many of them have served in the military.  I probably would have done the same had my life taken a different route – but now it’s all about working the 9 to 5 and taking things for granted.  Well, not really – I actually keep a poppy pin in the trunk of my car all the time and I find it a good reminder whenever I see it – and sometimes I say a little thanks.

I think it’s great to have a day for everyone to take a moment to say thanks to the veterans, even if you don’t believe in the reasons behind the wars, you can at least respect those that have served and those that are currently serving.  Right?

I made a little picture as a tribute for this day – wasn’t exactly how I wanted it to turn out, but given what I had on hand, I think it’ll do.  I’d also like to thank Miku and Black Rock Shooter for taking the time for a moment of silence to honour those that have fought for us.  The picture would’ve been great if I had a field of poppies though – perhaps next Remembrance Day?  I initially planned on using a Nendoroid in front of a poppy, but I don’t have any nendos with closed eyes or crying eyes.  So out came the Figmas and their wonderful pose-ability to save the day.  The post-processing was probably a bit too heavy handed and now that I look at it more, the poppy looks edited in, which it wasn’t.  BRS is also kneeling, but it looks like her legs have disappeared into the abyss!  LOL

So back on a more serious note – remember to give a little moment of silence today at 11 for those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for us!
