Despite enjoying playing RPGs, I still have yet to beat the first Mass Effect, partially since I hated driving the jeep and partially because one of my friends wound up beating it over a weekend while I watched, when I was maybe 80% of the way through it. Then I bought a camera and haven't really played a ton of video games since, though I recently got into Bethesda's games (which I couldn't play before since they made me horribly dizzy).

Liara looks pretty good; really good, I think, compared to some of the other Bishoujo figures. The quality for the line seems to vary quite a bit; Liara and Christie look really nice, and then there are some like the Invisible Woman and Asuka Kazama and the early 1/8 scale Marvel figures which don't look that great. It's mildly annoying that they decided to shrink down her bust, though; not that I remember how large her bust is in the game, but this is Shunya Yamashita's adaptation; big boobs is what he does. One may as well complain that they don't like the way he draws lips.

I'm also mildly disappointed that he didn't cut the ass out of Commander Shepard's armor, just because I'd like to see the sort of firestorm that would've ignited. Though I guess Mass Effect players already have enough to complain about, from what I've heard.

The other figure was a warrior type samurai gal brandishing a rather wicked looking spear. Senhime, I think that's what the figure was called. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10074599

Thanks for the compliment on the Liara pics :)

LOL, well congrats on winning (over your wife). Out of curiosity, what was the other figure that she preferred? If you ask my wife, all my figures look "too weird" to her. XD

Saw your Liara pics on Flickr too, nicely done! :)

The funny thing is, some of the people that complained about her breasts being too big later complained the revision made them too small. LOL I guess you just have to be careful with what you wish for sometimes!

Thanks for the encouragement, but these pics are really medicore at best. =P If you have a chance to try out the game, you definitely should - the story's epic - just not the ending. LOL

A very nice review of a beautiful figure. Mass Effect was one of my favourite game series so it was a no brainer for me to pick this figure up when I was at the Kotobukiya store in Akihabara. Had a bit of argument with the wife about the purchase - she preferred another figure, complaining that the Liara figure looked "too weird". I had to explain to her that Liara looked that way because she's an alien lol Would have bought that other figure, but only have space for one figure >.<

I heard of mass effect before, but never played it, me is a lame gamer. Haha actually Im not that much into blue alien girls to be honest, but the figure is quite nice, the shiny eyes and mouth bring her face to life.

In comparison with the ingame shot they pimped her quite a bit, she looks a lot hotter and more energetic as figure.

Too bad that they changed her boobs to something smaller, sometimes you should just ignore your possible customers *lol*

The suit looks very cool with the design and the blue, white, grey color combination. I also like the M5 weapon design.

So you didn't do much figure photography recently, nevertheless picture k_liara_tsoni_04_web.jpg is very well done, as well as 26.

Comment on Mass Effect 3: Did BioWare end it right? by VF

You really have to play the game to understand why I (and others) feel the way we do about the ending. I have no qualms with Shepard dying, I had guessed the likely hood of him dying was high. All I'm saying is that it wouldn't have hurt if BioWare added a happy ending where Shep survives too. And there really wasn't a "good ending" to choose from, the endings were somewhat a shade of grey. My main point in this post was the fact that it seems like a lot of the things Shepard and the Normandy crew gone through didn't matter, we were force fed three endings. No matter how much galactic readiness you had, no matter which allies you gathered for the end, it didn't matter. It was either a red ending, blue ending or green ending.

I also think they didn't have to destroy all the Mass Relays and end any hope of a canon spin off or leaving options for the fans/community. As I've said in this post, it's like if the Stargate franchise ended with all the gates being destroyed, or imagine Star Trek without warp drives. While I understand this is the end of the trilogy, they didn't have to kill it off this way. If they left the Mass Relays intact, at least that'll give the community an option to imagine what may have happened to the galaxy in the aftermath. But maybe that's what BioWare or Casey Hudson intended, is not to have the fans continue on with the Mass Effect universe. So if any possible continuation in this franchise is available, it'll have to be before these events.

There's also the issue that there were a lot of unexplained scenes that didn't add up - but BioWare already announced they're going to be releasing a DLC this summer that'll help answer these questions. Basically it comes down to this: I felt, as a player and fan of the series, that the ending did not live up to the epic story that was presented to us in the trilogy.
