Just wanted to wish my family and friends a happy Chinese (well, Lunar) New Year!
I totally lost track of time, been so busy with work and life stuff it just flew right by! I’ve also been doing quite a bit of work getting new graphics done for the website and hopefully I’ll get them up soon. Work has been coming in slowly, but it’s coming along! I’ve also burnt some midnight oil and got the Reviews section underway. I’m really liking the new layout and once everything is worked out, I might translate that to the blog section as well.
Anyhoo – thanks for visiting again and have a happy Year of the Tiger!
Started writing some reviews which I initially placed here in the blog section. Then I changed my mind and decided to separate my blog and the reviews. I’m liking this setup much more and it keeps the two sections better organized.
Head on over to the Reviews section and have a look – feel free to leave some comments!
Received the next Sheryl Nome figure, this one is made by Banpresto as part of their Ichiban Kuji lineup. This figure is dubbed the “Encore Edition”, as a second limited release. The clothing is silver, rather than the purple, pink and blue of the original release. Since I’m a sucker for limited editions, I picked this one up – plus I also think the silver looks a little more classy on Sheryl than the original colour scheme. The details on this figure is pretty well done, although there are some minor imperfections, it’s acceptable. What I also didn’t realize when I got it, was that part of the figure is cast-off, which means part of the costume is removable. Sweet. LOL Anyway, more pics can be seen in the gallery…

Gone on somewhat of a spending spree with new Macross stuff lately, one of the new arrivals is the Sheryal Nome (In Concert) figure, by Megahouse as part of their Excellent Model series. This is my first figure of this type and proportion, it’s roughly 24cm tall and rivals the size of my Yamato Valkyries. lol I’m running out of storage space!
Sheryl Nome is a character from Macross Frontier, who lived amongst the Galaxy Fleet and is known as the Galactic Fairy. Her travel takes her to the Frontier Fleet where the series takes place. In the first couple of episodes, I didn’t like her character as much, she seemed like another snobbish/smutty songstress – but as the story develops, you see more of her personal side and that did make me warm up to the character more. I thought she was going to be another Lynn Minmay, but I’m starting to like Sheryl’s personality more. Minmay became all business with her career, which created a feeling of distance. No wonder she lost Hikaru! I’ve got some more coming in, so stay tuned!
Anyway, here’s a sample shot of her figure with Canon 5DII, EF 100 macro lens @ ISO 3200.
More of her pics can be seen in the gallery.

Spent a couple hours yesterday morning to install the BSH PCV Stage 2+ PCV fix with Catch Can. It replaces the OEM PCV system and adds a catch can to collect the waste, oil, vapours, etc. No more worrying about the typical PCV leak anymore, although I can’t say I’ve ever had a problem with it (yet). I’ll just have to keep an eye on the Diverter Valve now and make sure it’s not leaking boost.
The install was rather simple, although there were points where you say, “grrrrr”. Actually, there was just one point where I had to say “grrrr”. That was removing the driver side hose from the stock PCV system. I was afraid of damaging the clips that was holding the hose in place, you have to be really careful and patient when removing the clip. It was noted in BSH’s instructions as well. It may be easier if there was a second person to help, one person can work the clip while the other gently pull on the hose to separate it from the nozzle.
Anyway, after a few “grrrrrr’s”, I got the kit installed. The angle block from the catch can seems to sit pretty close to the belt, it just didn’t feel comfortable having something so close to the belt. I spent some time on adjusting the can to a position where angle block would sit farther away from the belt. I think I found a suitable position, albeit a bit unconventional, as seen in the pic. Guess time will tell how much gunk the can will catch!
